boy oh boy-its a ?!?!

The George family had a lot of things going on yesterday. Worried about Tiger we still had the ultrasound appointment. I drank the 32 oz of required water intake, and by the time I tried packing our things to go, I was already doing the potty dance and did it ever hurt too.

We were running a few minutes behind, but 20 minutes past scheduled time (after lots of groaning, wiggling, and sweating) I approached one of the check in girls. I let her know that I normally can hold my bladder, but I may lose it on the floor because it hurt so bad. This girl, minimally sensitive to this issue, makes a call and then says "oh". Gets off the phone and says I should go but let the least amount of urine out. I was gone and back in a flash, letting just enough out that i wasn't in pain.

30 minutes past scheduled time, I go up yet again, asking how long it could be (I had a hubby, a 2 year old and my aching bladder). They just responded that the machine was taken to an emergency surgery. This is all well and good people, emergencies happen, but please consider that you work with living people, all of whom prepared in some way for the xrays, or what have you, so sometimes a heads up about that is nice.

Within moments of that however, they call me back-thankfully the tech lady was very sweet and personable. She mentioned how full my bladder was, and said I could go about a cups worth- I ran out the room! I came back and she said that I was still very full- but I was comfortable enough, and told her if she could get what she needed that we just continue.

I could hear Owen making noises occasionally from the hall waiting area, and after she took her required shots, she called them in to the little dark room. Poor Owen was so aprehensive, but came in with no tears. He just kept saying "mom, mom, mom", as if to make sure I was ok, so I grabbed his hand and we tried to get him into this baby on tv.

This was unlike my ultrasounds with Owen-as we saw that tech doing all the measurements and pictures. This time I only got to see, what they got to see and it wasn't for very long. We caught baby sucking a hand or thumb, very cute. The longest part was trying to get the "money" shot. Baby was very wiggly (according to the tech-who had a hard time getting the 153bpm), then became quite comfy and shy upon gender search. The tech bounced around on my abdomen, in the attempt to get the legs open, she then bounced on my bladder-which I could tell from the screen, was about to overflow again.

She didn't find a little wiener between the legs, just 3 dots, which the tech was pretty confident to say it's a girl! The tech sent us off with the 2 whole pics, and Owen refused to let go of them. He later stated something about baby swimming, and so the next chapter of our lives begin.
