Your pregnancy: 24 weeks
How your baby's growing:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
Not much to report, weird. Everything about the same...same aches, same in and out energy, same feeling fat and not prego, same feeling of urgency to get some things finished before her big arrival. But the movement of lil missy is pretty intense. I am starting to wonder if she is in training to become the first ever infant boxer. Maybe not necessarily stronger, but definitely more active than Owen, especially at this stage of pregnancy. Though I still attribute some of that to my different jobs during pregnancy also. I worked at the daycare most of my pregnancy with Owen. So I was SOO busy I probably didn't notice, and or I was rocking his little butt everyday for 8 hours. I still think that our little girl is going to be a little more outgoing and adventurous than our shy little Owen.
